Day 3: Park Güell

29th June 2014

Situated on El Carmel hill in Gràcia district, Park Güell is one of  Antoni Gaudí’s creations – a famous architect in Barcelona whose work resembles the natural world with his Art Nouveau structures of curved and flowing lines. His rich decorative elements help to blend his architecture with the surrounding landscape.

Park Güell is a place of peace and serenity which is a magnificent work of art. Apart from the steep hill climb that no-one warned me about, Park Güell felt truly magical and natural. As I reached the top and made my way into the Park I noticed why Guadí thought to build such an amazing attraction on top of a steep hill – the views of Barcelona are spectacular. With Sagrada Familia standing tall on the horizon and Barcelona city beneath gives a similar feeling to that felt inside Sagrada Familia of something greater than oneself.
